Safety

Think and act in a safe manner. Always disconnect power and use a lockout before you work on the E-coat system, or any of the related subsystems. Observe any confined space conditions. Use the appropriate safety equipment and clothing for the task. Please carefully read all the instructions listed below to familiarize yourself with the project before attempting to perform any of the work.

General

Problems can arise at anytime. Please use this listing by first focusing on the left hand column, then moving to the middle column to further define the possible problem. Consider each one of these causes carefully. At this point, its time to move to your ED system and investigate each of the causes. Testing is sometimes necessary. It is good practice to try to isolate the most likely causes in order to reduce your testing. Finally, move to the right hand column to see the appropriate remedy.

Problem Possible Cause Remedies

Leaking DI solenoid valve

  1. High inlet pressureLeaking from underneath solenoid
  2. Manual control is open
  3. Lose flange bolts
  4. Cracked poly body
  1. Reduce inlet pressure to below 80 psiMake sure solenoid is properly seated & secured
  2. Manual over ride lever is not full counterclockwise as viewed from discharge
  3. Tighten 4 bolts as required
  4. Re-order PN 360035 (110 VAC)

Low flow or low pressure

  1. Pump has lost prime
  2. Pump is rotating backwards
  3. Strainer is full
  • Re-prime pump and restart
  • Confirm pump motor rotation is correct
  • Open strainer and clean

Malfunctioning Conductivity Controller

  1. Conductivity sensor is dirty
  2. Conductivity sensor is in air pocket
  3. Fuse is blown
  4. Set point has been changed
  5. Other matters
  • Inspect and clean as required
  • Relocate to avoid trapped air
  • Check fuse condition and replace if required.
  • Refer to Myron L manual paragraph 3.3.2
  • Refer to Myron L manual for more trouble shooting assistance

Low tank level

  1. Low tank level sensor malfunction
  2. Piping break
  3. Drain valve is open
  1. Confirm that contact are NC when float is up and NC when the float is down
  2. Electrolyte is being lost due to a pipe break
  3. Insure drain is closed

Pressure gage not working

  1. Gage guard is missing
  1. Replace with a new gage and gage guard (i.e. diaphragm) assembly. Do not try to assemble guage and guard yourself without help from qualified gage shop technician

Tank does not fill when DI Water switch is depressed

  1. Power not reaching solenoid
  2. Solenoid valve is not working
  1. Check wiring & fuses
  2. Inspect solenoid valve
