Think and act in a safe manner. Always disconnect power and use a lockout before you work on the E-coat system, or any of the related subsystems. Observe any confined space conditions. Use the appropriate safety equipment and clothing for the task. Please carefully read all the instructions listed below to familiarize yourself with the project before attempting to perform any of the work.

A special type of Electrode, Precious Metal (PM) - coated Electrodes, are used with light-colored ED paints. The coating PME, is a precious metal oxide, applied over a titanium substrate.

Step 1

Remove rings and wear clean cotton gloves.

Step 2

Remove the red mesh by turning it back upon itself and taking it off from the opposite end. Do not use scissors to cut the mesh off.

Step 3

Remove the plastic sleeve in the same manner. Do not use scissors as it can damage the coatings.

Step 4

If your system uses Low Profile ME Cells, skip to step #7. Remove the supply tubing by gently pulling on the end with the yellow tape.

Step 5

Place the Electrode into the Membrane Shell that is either in the ED bath or waiting to be installed. Add D.I. water so that the Electrode is weighted down and will stay fully seated.

Step 6

Attach the Cable Lead Pigtail to the upper hole in the Electrode Tab by first placing a screwdriver through the lower hole in the Electrode Tab. Remove the screwdriver when finished.

Step 7

Refer to Bulleting #990122 or the original manual that came with the TECTRON™ Low Profile Cells.

Important Note: The opening pH range for PME is 2 to 7. These Electrodes should not be used as cathodes.
