Safety
Think and act in a safe manner. Always disconnect power and use a lockout before you work on the E-coat system, or any of the related subsystems. Observe any confined space conditions. Use the appropriate safety equipment and clothing for the task. Please carefully read all the instructions listed below to familiarize yourself with the project before attempting to perform any of the work.

General
The DurAnode has excellent characteristics as an anode in an ED paint finishing system. However, the DurAnode is very brittle because it is made of ceramic. Also, the DurAnode is available only in short 900 mm (35.4”) lengths and then later made into the required lengths. Therefore, the DurAnode Electrode may not be continuous throughout its length and special care is required with handling and installation into the ED tank.
Step 1
Be careful not to hit or cause the DurAnode to strike an object such as a door opening, etc.
Step 2
Handle without gloves as the surface of the DurAnode is very smooth and gloves may not allow a proper grip.
Step 3
Do not hold the DurAnode with only one hand. Generally the anolyte supply line and cable lead-pigtail are already attached. The proper procedure to remove the DurAnode from it shipping case is to hold with at least two hands, equal distance from the ends and then a third hand near the center of the DurAnode.
Step 4
If the DurAnode is to be installed in a horizontal orientation, do not fasten too tightly. When the ED tank is filled with water and paint there is usually some deformation of the ED tank floor and walls. If the DurAnode is not allowed to slightly move, and thus lessen the stress caused by the warping of the ED tank, the DurAnode may crack.
Step 5
The DurAnode may be slightly bent. This is normal and will not adversely affect its operation.
